Late Score Lifts OCP Over The First Academy

ORLANDO — The OCP Warriors scored on a one yard by quarterback Vilay Nakkoun with 40 seconds remaining to escape with a 14-7 win over The First Academy of Orlando.

The scoring drive covered 10 playa, 60 yards, and took 4 minutes and 5 seconds. The drive began after OCP forced the Royals to turn the ball over on downs while trailing 7-6 with 4:45 left in the game.

Nakkoun completed three straight passes to Demarion Jenkins, including an 11-yard completion on fourth down. After Nakkoun scored on the short touchdown run, he also ran in the two point conversion out of the swinging gate formation.

OCP’s other score came with 11:25 left in the second quarter after Brian Thomas scored on a three yard run which completed an 11-play 68 yard drive.

The lone score for The First Academy came with 8:00 minutes left in third quarter when Royals running back Terrence Mosley scored on a 4-yard run.

A 35-minute lightning delay interrupted the second quarter at the 8:10 mark of the second when OCP had the ball.

The First Academy (2-1) is home again on Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they take on Clearwater Calvary Christian and OCP (1-1) was scheduled to host Bradenton St. Stephen’s (1-2), but has a bye week.
